Firstly, may I wish all thise who have visited and
supported and visited this site a very merry
Christmas and Prosperous New Year. This will be
just a quick upade since our last entry. Two
important meetings regarding our aim to aquire a
museum for Barry have taken place. The first with
Jane Hutt AM went well. On the second, with a
member of the Vale Of Glamorgan Coucil we are
awaiting information requested at same. As soon as
we have news. You will have news.
We have slowed further uploads to the site down in
order to collate more of interest for general
release to our archive albums. There are one or
two individuals that may suggest that such a slow
down is consistant with a lack of material. Let us
assure you that this is not the case. Our
organsiation, Axis Historical Society will have
been running 18 years next February 16, and
throughout we have been able to aquire vast
amounts of historical material that relates to
Barry amd the surrounding area.
For those in the know, as to just how time
consuming historical research can be, we feel you
will fully understand the complexities of any one
particular study. Then, multiply that one study
may times over. And I feel even those who do not
understand historical research methods will begin
to get the picture when informaed that we are
working with our local collection which has taken
almost 18 years to build.
Axis volunteers are also takeing a short break
over the Christmas and New Year period. So once
again I wish all who have supported Axis in 2009 a
very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look
forward to your continued support in 2010.
Regards
Martin
Chairman : Axis Historical Society
Local History For Barry South Wales.

Today our society had a call from a representative
of 'Formfilms' a television production company
that a working on a programme about Lewis
Alexander and his Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter,
named, 'The Kindly Light'. Our society was pleased
to be of assistance by providing some information
and leads for the project. Do you have anything to
say about Lewis Alexander and the Kindly Light.
Please feel free to make comments here. |

real time exhibitions, that have a real impact in
our community? If you answered yes to that third
question. Axis Historical Society - Barry Archive
